Job Overview

Our client in the Edison area of NJ has an excellent opportunity for an Information Technology System Analyst!  

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and administer IBM Power9 Server.
  • Ensure OS is update to date with software PTFs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware/software issues. Monitor system logs for any errors or warnings.
  • Administer user security, job scheduling, hardware upgrade/configuration, full system backups/restore, and IFS integration.
  • Understand company business flow, support, and resolve issues.
  • Monitor ecommerce orders integration with third party ERP system.
  • Interact with manager and users and understand their needs, recommend enhancements, and improve current system applications functionality and reporting.
  • Create accurate reports using RPG programming or third-party reporting applications.
  • Work with ERP vendor to implement new system functionality.
  • Test and troubleshoot, and push to live new modifications
  • Month end processing – create, modify, or enhance month end process and reporting requirements.
  • Thorough understanding of CL and job scheduling to ensure proper month end close.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain / create EDI documents and resolve EDI transactions with VAN and partners.
  • Update catalog service to VAN.
  • Telephone and other communications system / equipment.
  • Helpdesk support (desktop/pc, printers).
  • Network infrastructure support.

 

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in a variety of programming languages, including CLP and RPG.
  • Excellent understanding of coding methods and best practices.
  • Extensive relational database and operating systems experience with OS400.
  • Thorough understanding of platforms such as OS/400, Windows.
  • Knowledge of EDI methods and procedures.
  • Solid working knowledge of current internet technologies, including TCP/IP.
  • 10+ years’ experience in System Administration and Development.
  • Knowledge of IBM hardware Power 9 server.
  • Knowledge of OS400.
  • Knowledge of developing in RPG, CL, VB, ILE RPG, and Java is a plus.
  • Understanding business process in ERP environment.
  • EDI development.
  • Basic network understanding to include Windows 10. Able to install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain all the software applications and peripheral equipment.
  • Troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
  • Basic support and understanding of Windows 2008 Active Directory, VMware, MS Terminal Server, basic firewall/router configuration, VPN, Veeam backup/replication.
  • Proven record of developing documentation, user training, and/or user information resources.
  • Excellent knowledge of best practices for managing, controlling, and monitoring server infrastructure.
  • Experience with backup and recovery software and disaster recovery methodologies.
  • Experience working with third party vendors and vendor management.
