Senior Information Technology (IT) Licensing Analyst

Job Overview

Our client in New York City has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Information Technology (IT) Licensing Analyst!


•Analyze purchase records and other entitlement information including contracts to get a detailed understanding of software metrics, deployment limitations and audit terms.

•Responsible for understanding license models, contractual entitlements, software delivery models and metrics for software products and manufacturers and assess impact of software licensing on changing hardware infrastructure designs.

•Organize, analyze and document purchase information associated with vendor software in the systems of record to establish an accurate and complete summary of license entitlements.

•Engage software vendors, product owners, application managers and subject matter experts to help collect, organize, and manage licensed vendor software assets.

•Maintain accurate reporting for software assets during and after the renewal cycle, to include tracking future renewals.

•Maintain processes for managing and tracking the software asset, license, and maintenance life cycle from procurement to retirement.

•Act as a point of reference during software vendor audits and participate in discussions surrounding the audit and assist in the creation of a response.

•Performs other related tasks and assignments as required.


•The candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree preferably in Business Administration, Information Systems, Economics, Engineering or related discipline with at least 3 years’ work experience – OR – Associates degree with relevant technical certification with at least 4 years demonstrated work experience in Software Asset Management.

•Technical certifications such as IAITAM preferred.

•Strong skills and experience with the MS Office or similar suite. Word, Excel, PowerPoint required; Microsoft Project, Visio desired.

•Strong knowledge and experience with software asset life cycle management processes and License Use Rights.

•Strong knowledge utilizing and/or implementing software asset management/tools, including automated Discovery Tools configuration.

•Strong knowledge of software licensing terms and conditions, agreements and maintenance contracts with special focus on Oracle, IBM.

•Excellent oral and written communication skills.

•Must be able to plan, organize and manage meetings.

•Must be able to translate functional to technical information.

•Must be able to develop documentation that will be consumed by users of diverse backgrounds and skills.

•Experience in change management, including organization and culture change a plus. Experience with implementing package software a plus.

•Must have a valid driver’s license.

•Must be able and willing to travel within company service territory, as needed.
