Sr. Compensation and Retirement Analyst (Human Resources)

Job Overview

Our client in the Woodbridge area of NJ has an excellent opportunity for a Sr. Compensation and Retirement Analyst!


•Administer the company’s compensation and benefit programs.

•Ensure that the Compensation, Benefits and Total Rewards Programs are competitive within the industry.

Compensation Responsibilities (70%):

•Assist in the implementation and administration of compensation programs.

•Analysis of internal compensation programs including wage and pay administration, job evaluation, and short term incentives.

•Support the development of salary structures and research market trends.

•Monitor the effectiveness of existing compensation policies, guidelines and procedures recommending plan revisions as well as new plans which are cost effective and consistent with compensation.

•Develop techniques for compiling, preparing and presenting data.

•Conduct job evaluations.

•Prepare standard and ad hoc pay and benefits data reports.

•Assemble and report Compensation & Benefits survey data for surveys conducted by various external organizations.

•Serve as HRIS liaison with IT Division.

Retirement Responsibilities (30%):

•Support HR business partners and facilitate resolution with vendors of Associate retirement and/or 401k-related issues and questions.

•Assist in the review, testing, implementation and maintenance of HRIS programs.

•Assist in development of employee communication materials (informational letters, HR updates).

•Participate in implementation of benefit plan/rate changes.

•Prepare, coordinate & distribute benefit communications, including summary plan descriptions, 401k fund additions/changes.

•Compile and maintain retirement/401k records and documents.

•Ensure quality and timely processing of all pension calculations from the beginning to completion.

•Consult with retiring employees, spouses/or financial advisors to ensure they understand their retirement programs and available options.

•Complete required testing, audits and annual pension valuation process on a timely basis to meet actuarial timelines.

•Must stay current on changing benefits regulatory requirements.


•4-6 years progressive experience in compensation & retirement administration and HRIS systems.

•Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Benefits Administration, or equivalent.

•Extensive knowledge of federal laws and regulations regarding compensation and retirement plans.

•Must be able to work independently showing a strong level of discretion.

•Demonstrated excellence in communication, customer service, and presentation skills with the ability to deal tactfully and professionally.

•Ability to manage multiple projects and work under deadlines with changing priorities required.

•Very strong PC skills, including PeopleSoft, Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint required.

•Excellent analytical and problem solving skills required.

•Prefer certification/designation in HR, compensation and or benefits management, or equivalent.
