Financial Analyst – Property and Casualty

Job Overview

Our client in the Bedminster area of NJ has an excellent opportunity for a Financial Analyst – Property and Casualty! 

 

You are expected to be in the office at least one day a week.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough, objective, and timely company credit analysis using financial and non-financial information.
  • Produce timely, high quality credit reports to support the assigned ratings, documenting analysis and recommendations to be reviewed and updated by the analytical team leader.
  • Present analysis at rating committee meetings demonstrating good judgment in communicating rating recommendations.
  • Conduct on-going monitoring and surveillance of assigned portfolios, including rating changes, market/industry/regulatory developments, news events etc. identifying early warning signs that need to be brought to committee for event driven rating actions.
  • Keep up to date with relevant industry, market and professional developments through continued professional development and learning, including, for example, undertaking research, attending seminars, market briefings and presentations etc.
  • Manage the relationship with rated companies, increasingly leading management meetings, communicating rating outcomes and effective management of expectations.
  • Develop and maintain in-depth, highly current knowledge and insight in one or more specialist market and or technical subject areas.
  • Proactively identify areas for performance or process improvement, recommending actions and positively contributing to the implementation of changes.
  • Maintaining or working to develop strong analytical skills through a professional designation and continuing education (e.g.
  • CFA, Actuarial, MBA, CPCU, CLU, FRM)
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.

 

Experience:

  • 3-5 years Financial Analysis or related experience is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Math, Finance, Actuarial, Accounting or Economics.
  • Possess or working towards relevant professional qualifications (e.g. MSc, MA, MBA, CPA, CFA, Actuarial, CPCU, or CLU).
  • Continuing education is required.
  • Experienced in conducting financial analysis, ideally within the insurance industry, or broader financial services sector.
  • Developed analytical skills and knowledge of financial markets and economic/industry trends.
  • Evidence of developing and managing professional relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Must demonstrate ability to manage own time efficiently and effectively, and be able to multitask, absorb ideas and facts quickly, while maintaining a strict eye for detail.
  • Preferably a math, accounting, financial or economics background; Knowledge of financial ratios and financial statement analysis.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Keen interest in further developing strong analytical skills through professional designation and continuing education (e.g. CFA, Actuarial, MBA, CPCU, CLU, FRM).
